Saginaw Learn to Earn Academy

Vision and Philosophy - Saginaw Learn to Earn Academy is envisioned as an exemplary career and life-skills choice for Saginaw County youth ages 16 through 25 years which:

Saginaw Learn to Earn Academy will be focused on attacking and reengaging general and special education students 16-25 years old who have dropped out or are on the verge of dropping out of school. The Academy differs from other schools in meeting student needs in several ways:

The Academy academic year begins the first Tuesday following Labor Day, and continues uninterrupted through June, excluding holiday breaks. The school day hours are from 11:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m four days per week, Monday through Thursday.

The Academy operates in the Saginaw Intermediate School District's Transitions Center Building, 3860 Fashion Square Boulevard. The office phone number is (989) 399-7400. Qualified applicants must be Saginaw County residents, ages 16-25. All applicants must have not attended any other High School program for a minimum of 90 days or one full semester.

Saginaw County Transition Academy

The Saginaw County Transition Academy educates and guides middle and high school at risk Family Court referred students. The school was chartered by the Saginaw ISD in 1995. This year-round school allows students to earn credit and prepare for a successful reentry into a traditional school for graduation. The school's location is 919 Veterans Memorial Parkawy. Telephone number is 752-6176 ext 2141.

The Saginaw Intermediate School District contracts with SVRC Industries, Inc. to provide several education services:

The Saginaw County Juvenile Detention Center School educates detained youth ages 10-17. All detained youth attend classes six hours per schoool day. The Detention Center is located at 3360 Hospital Rd. Telephone number is 799-2821.

The Interim Alternative Education Program educates special education students who are temporarily not able to attend their home school. Referrals come only from any of the school districts in Saginaw County. The program is located at Westlund Guidance Clinic building, 3253 Congress St., Saginaw. The telephone number is 799-1586.

The Health Source Hospital School Program serves youth in the adolescent unit. Services are individualized, with academic reports forwarded to students' home school upon discharge. Health Source Hospital is located at 3340 Hospital Rd., Saginaw. Telephone number is 790-7700.

Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy benefit special education eligible students with specific needs in those areas. Referrals and requests for services come from area schools through the Individualized Education Plan. Therapists are assigned to school districts.

School-to-Work Program provides vocational services to students in all Saginaw County districts. Each school district has personnel assigned. Referrals come from the schools.
